Our specialty
Where it starts — and where it sticks.
At The Compound, personal training isn't a service — it's a relationship. It begins with understanding you: your goals, your movement history, your body, and where you want to go. Then we build a program designed for you and no one else.
"Treat the whole person, not just the workout. Recovery is not an afterthought — it's part of the program."Brian "BK" Kermizian, Co-Founder
Purposeful training
Built different, on purpose.
- AExperienced, highly educated coaches — decades of study in physiology, movement, and holistic health.
- BTraining tailored to you — programs designed for the individual, never off the shelf.
- CThe whole system — strength, mobility, posture, and recovery working together.
- DPrivate & small-group setting — individual care, not a crowded gym floor.
- EA real community — the Good Vibe Tribe shows up for each other.
- FTraining, coffee & gathering — under one roof, so there's always a reason to linger.
3,000+ square feet Every one intentional.

Her vision. His methods. One Compound.
Danielle Kermizian
Co-Founder · Entrepreneur · Wellness Advocate
The mastermind behind the brand. Danielle turned a corporate fashion career and a serial-entrepreneur streak into The Compound — and the community she coined the Good Vibe Tribe. She designs and teaches classes weekly, and somehow still built a second destination, GroundHouse, in nearby Caldwell.
Brian Kermizian
Co-Founder · Master Trainer · 25+ Years
A lifelong student of the human body. Brian founded Living Fit in 2009 and brings decades of study in physiology, kinesiology, and holistic health — including elite SOMA and ELDOA training — to every program The Compound runs. His rule: treat the whole person.
Easy to start. Hard to leave.

Ready to experience
The Compound? Join the addiction.
Your goals are specific. Your training should be too.
This is where it starts — and where it sticks. Personal training at The Compound isn't a service, it's a relationship: a program designed specifically for you and no one else, by coaches who take the time to truly understand you.
One-on-one
How it works
- 01We start with you. Your goals, your body, your movement history, your limitations, and where you want to go.
- 02We build your program. Intentional, progressive sessions structured around strength, mobility, posture, and recovery working together.
- 03You get results that last. Better workouts, fewer injuries, and a body that moves the way it was meant to.
Proper form isn't just technique — it's the foundation of everything. This is purposeful training. And it shows.
Private, partner, or small group.
Private 1-on-1
Undivided attention and a reserved time that's yours alone — we never double-book appointments.
Partner Training
Train alongside a partner with the same individual care and intentional programming.
Small Group
A small-group setting that keeps coaching personal while the energy stays high.
Sessions are offered in 30- and 60-minute formats, available as individual sessions or 10-packs. Training rates are shared during your consultation so we can match the right format to your goals.
Recovery built in
Strength through motion
By focusing on strength through motion and correcting the postural imbalances most programs overlook, we help your body learn to move the way it was meant to. Recovery, mobility, and injury prevention aren't add-ons here — they're the program.
"We tend to get into fitness crazes where we're overworking the same muscle groups back to back without the proper rest, recovery, or stretching to allow for efficient muscle repair."Brian "BK" Kermizian

Group Classes
The Compound
Coffee Co. Stay a while.
Where specialty coffee meets community. We source our signature organic Compound Roasts straight from a small farm in Costa Rica and serve it in a space built for lingering — however you take the coffee, the vibe is always right.
More than a coffee bar
The Menu
Specialty coffee, smoothies, and healthy bites made with clean ingredients — as good as anything you'll find in the city. Featuring signature GF/vegan items.
The Library Lounge
Settle in with a cortado — recently expanded so clients and guests can gather, recharge, and connect.
The Casita
Our covered outdoor space for soaking up the day, coffee in hand.
Retail & Pick-Up
Browse the in-house retail shop, or roll up to the pick-me-up window when you're on the move.
Here for a training session, a cortado, or both — there's always a reason to linger.
Quality is at the source of everything we do — and coffee is where it starts.
We source with the same rigor we bring to every part of The Compound and GroundHouse. Grounded Co. (formerly Compound Coffee) is organic, pesticide-free, and tested for mold and mycotoxins, sourced from a small, beautiful farm in the Tarrazú region of Costa Rica.
Because the cleanest cup starts long before the roast.
Some places work out your body. We work on it.
The Compound is a private training and wellness facility rooted in one belief — that the way you train, recover, and take care of yourself matters.
Verona, NJ
Rooted in legacy
- '09Living Fit is founded. Brian's original training concept lays the groundwork for everything that follows.
- '20The Compound finds home in Verona. In fall 2020, a private training studio becomes something far beyond a gym — a community.
- '22The Coffee Co. strikes Gold. Best of Essex for Best Coffee Shop — then again in 2024 and 2025.
- '26A new chapter. The newly expanded facility now spans over 3,000 square feet — the original training floor, a brand-new dedicated studio, a client locker room and lounge, and an expanded Library Lounge. Every square foot built with intention.
Meet the vision(s)
Danielle Kermizian
Co-Founder · Entrepreneur · Wellness Advocate · Mom of 3
Some people talk about building something. Danielle builds it — then builds three more. With a business degree from Marymount Manhattan College, she rose to National Sales Manager in corporate fashion, launched Chic Rattle & Roll in 2012 (one of the country's first fashion trucks, featured in The Wall Street Journal and TIME New York), then went all in on wellness.
She certified at the highest levels — Spinning™, Stages™ Cycling, the elite Flywheel Sports NYC, and her 200-hour yoga teacher training — and still designs and teaches classes weekly. Under her leadership The Compound grew into a full lifestyle destination, and she's since opened GroundHouse in nearby Caldwell. The community she built here has a name she coined herself: the Good Vibe Tribe.
Brian Kermizian
Co-Founder · Master Trainer · Holistic Health Expert · 25+ Years
Before The Compound, there was Brian. For over 25 years he's been a deeply dedicated student of the human body — physiology, anatomy, nutrition, kinesiology, and holistic lifestyle modification. In 2009 he founded Living Fit, the training facility that laid the groundwork for everything that followed.
He is a Certified Holistic Lifestyle Coach through the C.H.E.K Institute, a Metabolic Blueprint Practitioner, and one of a select few trainers in the country to complete Dr. Guy Voyer's SOMA Training Program — a recognized expert in myofascial exercise therapy and ELDOA. From pro and youth athletes to active adults and seniors, his philosophy never changes: treat the whole person, not just the workout.

Good questions. Straight answers.
Everything you need to know before your first session — and the policies that keep scheduling fair for our clients, our coaches, and the whole Tribe.
How do I register for a class?
Online registration is required for all group classes to reserve your space. Book through our live schedule or The Compound NJ app. Once registered, you'll receive a confirmation email along with our Waiver of Liability link — please review and sign electronically before your first class or training session.
What's the cancellation policy for group classes?
We have a 6-hour cancellation window for all group classes. If you can't make a class you've booked, cancel online or in the app at least 6 hours before start time to retain your class credit.
Cancellations inside 6 hours — and no-shows — are considered a late cancel: you'll be charged for the class, and if you're using a package, that credit is used. Questions? Email info@thecompoundnj.com.
What's the cancellation policy for personal training?
One-on-one sessions have a 24-hour cancellation/rescheduling policy. Appointments missed or cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice are charged unless rescheduled within the week.
We know life happens — but we never double-book appointment times, so each session is time reserved just for you. This policy keeps scheduling responsible and fair for both our trainers and our clients.
How do packages, purchases & refunds work?
Purchase single classes, class packages, or the VIP Monthly Unlimited membership on our online store or in the app. All class and training packages are non-transferable and non-refundable.
Expirations: single classes, 30 days from purchase · 5 Pack, 2 months · 10 Pack, 6 months · 20 Pack, 1 year. Classes and instructor assignments are subject to change at the studio's discretion. Need help purchasing? Email info@thecompoundnj.com and our staff will get right back to you.
What if I'm running late?
Out of respect for your fitness community, please do your best to arrive on time. Running behind? Call or email the front desk at info@thecompoundnj.com — if we know you're on the way, we can hold your spot for up to 5 minutes past class start.
Where do I park, and how do I find you?
271 Grove Ave is a modern industrial complex with several ground-level businesses. Enter from Grove Ave or Ozone Ave — we're in the middle complex, Building C, directly behind Vanguard Medical Center if you're coming in from Grove.
There's complimentary parking directly in front of, beside, and behind our studio, and guests are also welcome to park on Ozone.
How do I reach the team?
Your opinion matters and we'd love to hear from you. For questions, concerns, or just to say hello — call 973.601.2570, email info@thecompoundnj.com, or stop by and talk to someone in the studio. You can also message our staff directly in The Compound NJ app.
